Action & Advocacy
The League of Women Voters takes action on an issue or advocates for a cause when there is an existing League position that supports the issue or speaks to the cause. Click here to see the Positions page.
After studying an issue, producing a Fact Sheet, having in depth discussion and arriving by consensus at a position, the League of Women Voters moves to the Action and Advocacy Stage.
Advocacy encompasses making the case for or against causes, as well as supporting or recommending positions. Action and Advocacy may include members actively lobby legislators, both in person, with testimony, and by mail and email. We may also publish information, send out press releases, holds educational forums and send out Action Alerts so that all members of the community may also communicate with their legislators.
