League of Women Voters Jackson Area Day of Action

Once again, LWV Jackson was in the lobby of the Center for Family Health (CFH), Friday February 14, 2020, offering information on Voting and the upcoming U. S. Census. In celebration of the 100th birthday of the League of Women Voters, we also passed out candy, and registered voters while providing information on Michigan’s new voting rights. We answered many questions regarding, No Reason Absentee Ballot, and how to contact local clerks. Many people still were not familiar with Vote411.org – a resource for all questions related to voting.

Folks are still surprised and pleased to learn that any citizen in Michigan may now vote with an Absentee Ballot if one chooses. It was so rewarding helping an 18 year old excited to learn about the registration and voting process as well as the importance to our community to count everyone in the 2020 Census. Our conversations showed us that there is still a lot of education for us to do this year. We have been invited to return to the CFH throughout the year, reaching out to as many people as possible.
